The Holmes Estate
The Holmes Estate is situated on the banks of the River tweed amidst the countryside but within a 10 minute walk, either by riverside path or along tree lined driveway and pavement, of the Shops and pubs of St. Boswells.

Dryburgh can also be easily reached via riverside path and suspension bridge. Along the well maintained path, which is actually a section of St. Cuthbert's Way - A 100Km walking route from Melrose to the Coast at Nurthumberland, you will find a small temple, the Wallace monument, and Dryburgh Abbey all within easy reach on foot.

The grounds of the estate cover about 80 hectares with breath-taking views over to Dryburgh. For the keen fisherman, the Holmes has its own one mile stretch of the river Tweed where trout fishing is available (included in rent) and recently one guest caught a 7lb Brown Trout! For the golfer, we are within walking distance of St. Boswells golf course (cheap golf available & visitors welcome). We also have good tennis courts available in the village.

Visitors will enjoy exploring the lovely grounds which include an area designated as a 'Site of Special Scientific Interest' because of the wild flowers, and a secluded walled garden. The Estate is also home to a collection of farm animals including rare breeds of Sheep, Goats, Donkeys, Poultry and Mrs Wigglewaggle, the pet pig (her hairy husband Jasper is pictured on the right).

The surroundings are ideal for children. There are good cycle routes, the lawn for ball games, wide variety of animals, a teddy bear's cabin, a walled garden and plenty more to explore. There are good hotels within walking distance for meals out and there are plenty of other activities such as riding schools or mountain biking also available locally.
